When a loved one passes away abroad, bringing them home involves more than booking an international flight. Families must coordinate airport cargo clearance, verify documents, arrange the release of human remains, and organise transportation to the final destination.

Recently, Ambulens.in has been handling this type of service coordination, including dead body clearance at Mumbai Airport and ambulance transfer to Pune.

For families receiving human remains from countries such as Cambodia and Sri Lanka, our role is to coordinate the necessary airport procedures and arrange suitable road transportation after release.

This guide explains how the process works, which documents families may need, and how Ambulens can assist throughout the journey.

International Dead Body Repatriation Through Mumbai Airport

International human repatriation requires coordination between the airline, cargo terminal, relevant authorities, receiving family, and transportation provider.

Mumbai Airport can serve as the arrival point when a deceased person travels from another country to India. However, the process does not end when the flight lands.

The receiving team must complete the applicable cargo release and clearance procedures before moving the deceased from the airport.

After clearance, the family may need a suitable ambulance or mortuary vehicle to transport the deceased to Pune.

Therefore, coordinating airport clearance and destination transportation together can simplify the process for the family.

Our Service: Mumbai Airport Clearance and Ambulance Transfer to Pune

Ambulens supports families who need coordinated transportation after international arrival.

Our service can cover the following stages, depending on the case requirements.

1. International Arrival Coordination

First, the team reviews the arrival details and available documents.

These details may include the country of origin, airline, arrival airport, cargo reference, expected arrival time, and receiving person’s contact information.

For arrivals from Cambodia or Sri Lanka, the exact process depends on the airline, departure-country procedures, and documentation accompanying the shipment.

2. Airport Cargo Clearance Assistance

Next, the team coordinates the applicable clearance and release process at Mumbai Airport.

This may involve communication with the airline cargo department, authorised handling agents, and relevant authorities.

The team checks the documents available and helps identify any additional requirements before release.

Important: Airport release depends on the applicable authorities, cargo operator, and completeness of the documentation. Timelines can vary between cases.

3. Ambulance Arrangement at Mumbai Airport

Once the required release procedures are complete, a suitable transportation vehicle can be arranged at the airport.

The vehicle type depends on the transportation requirement, destination, and availability.

The team coordinates the pickup so the family does not need to arrange every stage independently.

4. Road Transportation from Mumbai Airport to Pune

After airport release, the deceased can be transported from Mumbai Airport to the designated destination in Pune.

The team confirms the destination address, pickup coordination, vehicle availability, and expected journey arrangements with the family.

If the family requires transportation to a home, hospital mortuary, or another approved destination, the details should be confirmed before dispatch.

5. Coordination with the Receiving Family

Clear communication is important throughout the process.

The family should receive updates about the documents, clearance status, vehicle arrangement, and destination details as appropriate.

This helps family members understand the next steps during an already difficult time.

Documents Required for International Dead Body Clearance at Mumbai Airport

The required documents depend on the country of origin, airline, circumstances of death, and applicable Indian procedures.
